We provide two levels of research service:
- Basic Record Searching
If you know(or believe that you know) the location of the information in which you are interested, then we can visit the relevant repository, carry out the necessary search and provide a copy of the appropriate details. As there is no real 'research' involved, just time, then this 'basic' service is charged at a rate of £6.00 per hour or part thereof, plus expenses. There is a minimum charge of 2 hours, excluding travelling, for the initial order. This is waived for all subsequent orders. Travelling time is charged at a rate of £6.00 per hour or part thereof.
- Advanced Record Searching
If you cannot be specific about the date and/or location but have a rough idea, then we can visit the relevant repository(s) and attempt to trace any relevant record(s). This is more time consuming and necessitates research to identify the appropriate repository and record. This 'advanced' service is charged at a rate of £7.50 per hour or part thereof, plus expenses. There is a minimum charge of 2 hours, excluding travelling, for the initial order. This is waived for all subsequent orders. Travelling time is charged at a rate of £6.00 per hour or part thereof.

The following is intended only as a guide, to indicate likely costs associated with any research undertaken by Genealogical Record Research Services. A detailed quote will be provided, based on the information supplied, to enable a decision to be made about whether or not to proceed with the research. The cost of any research is made up of travelling time and expenses plus the actual time spent undertaking the research at the appropriate hourly rate.

Cost
The maximum initial research time i.e. excluding travelling time, will not exceed 16 hours (2 days). Additional periods of research may then be ordered, again in maximum slots of 16 hours.
Whilst every effort will be made to locate the relevant record(s), no guarantee can be provided that the search will be successful. A full statement detailing any reason for failure will be provided. The charges provided in the quote apply regardless of success or failure.
Sometimes records may be of such poor quality that photocopies are indistinct. Every effort will be made to obtain the requested information but again, no guarantee can be provided the relevant information can be obtained. The charges provided in the quote apply regardless of success or failure.
Terms are strictly payment in advance.
